Buying on REVEND

How do I buy an item?

Choose the item, review the full listing, select BUY NOW and complete the REVEND checkout process. Delivery and transaction costs are shown as part of the purchase flow.

Do I pay the seller directly?

No. Buyers should complete payment only through the official REVEND checkout process. Do not transfer money directly to a seller.

Can I change my mind after buying?

REVEND Buyer Protection is not intended to be a general change-of-mind return service. A genuine dispute is for cases where the item is materially not as advertised, subject to any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable South African law.

What does Sold as Advertised mean?

The item supplied must materially match the product shown and described in the listing, including important condition details, defects and included items.

Selling on REVEND

Who can sell on REVEND?

REVEND supports private sellers and business stores. Sellers must have the legal right to sell the products they list.

Who sets the selling price?

The seller sets the item price.

What information should I include in a listing?

Use clear photographs, an accurate description, the correct condition, material defects, included items, quantity where applicable and accurate parcel information.

When does the seller get paid?

Seller payout is linked to successful transaction completion. Payout may be held while a valid dispute is being reviewed.

Fees and pricing

Does REVEND charge a transaction fee?

Yes. REVEND applies a platform transaction fee according to the applicable fee schedule shown during the selling or transaction process.

How are current REVEND fees structured?

The current platform model uses category-based fees: 5.5% for Phones, Technology and Gaming; 7% for Home, Vehicles and Tools; and 9% for other categories, with the REVEND fee capped at R2,500. Delivery is separate.

Is courier delivery included in the item price?

No. Delivery charges are calculated separately from the seller's item price and the REVEND transaction fee.

Delivery

How does delivery work?

REVEND is designed around managed courier delivery. The seller provides parcel and collection information, the buyer provides the delivery address, and REVEND uses an available supported delivery service.

Do the buyer and seller need to meet?

Normally no. REVEND is specifically designed to reduce the need for private meet-ups between strangers.

What if an item is large or heavy?

Large or heavy items are not automatically prohibited. Eligibility depends on whether an available REVEND courier or logistics service can safely and lawfully transport the item.

What if the courier cannot transport my item?

If no supported delivery service can transport the product for the relevant route, the transaction may not be available until a suitable delivery method is supported.

Payments

How is payment handled?

The buyer pays through REVEND and the payment remains connected to the transaction. The seller should rely on the transaction status shown by REVEND, not screenshots or private payment claims.

Should a seller send an item before payment is confirmed?

No. Sellers should follow the official REVEND transaction status and delivery instructions.

What if someone asks me to pay outside REVEND?

Do not continue with the private payment request. Transactions moved outside REVEND may lose important platform records and protections.

Disputes and Buyer Protection

When can I open a dispute?

A dispute is intended for genuine transaction problems, especially where the product received is materially not as advertised.

What evidence may REVEND review?

REVEND may review the original listing, photographs, product description, disclosed defects, transaction records, courier information and evidence submitted by both buyer and seller.

What happens to seller payout during a dispute?

Seller payout may be held while a valid dispute is being investigated.

Is the buyer punished if the seller misrepresented the item?

No. The buyer should not be penalized for genuine seller misrepresentation. REVEND may take action against the seller where appropriate.

What can be sold?

What products can I sell?

REVEND is designed to support a broad marketplace. If an item can legally be sold, can be transported through an available REVEND delivery method and is permitted by the applicable payment and service providers, it will generally be allowed.

What items are prohibited?

Illegal, stolen, counterfeit, fraudulent, unsafe or otherwise prohibited goods are not allowed. Products that cannot lawfully or operationally be transported through an available REVEND delivery service may also be restricted.

Are batteries, chemicals or unusual goods allowed?

Some products may be restricted rather than completely prohibited. Eligibility depends on the product, courier requirements, packaging, applicable law and payment-provider rules.

Accounts and safety

How do I protect my REVEND account?

Protect your password, email account and device. Do not share passwords or one-time security codes with another person.

Will REVEND support ask me for my password?

No. REVEND support should never require you to give another person your password.

What should I do if something looks suspicious?

Do not continue with suspicious payment, delivery or account instructions. Submit an official REVEND support request.
